From Our Humidor
Padrón Cigars
Sixty years of family tradition. Estate-grown Nicaraguan tobacco. The benchmark against which all other cigars are measured.
The Standard for Nicaraguan Cigars
Ask any serious cigar smoker to name the most consistent cigar brand in the world, and Padrón is the answer you will hear most often. For over sixty years, the Padrón family has grown their own tobacco, controlled every step of production, and refused to cut a single corner.
Every Padrón cigar is box-pressed — a signature of the brand — giving each stick a distinctive rectangular shape that sits perfectly in your hand. The tobacco comes exclusively from the family’s own farms in the Estelí and Jalapa valleys of Nicaragua, where volcanic soil and Caribbean climate produce some of the richest leaf on earth.
At Match Cigar Bar, we keep Padrón front and center in our humidor because nothing pairs better with bourbon, nothing rewards a slow evening more generously, and nothing earns as many return trips to the humidor as a well-aged Padrón.
From Havana to Estelí
The Padrón story begins with a man, a dream, and a hammer. José Orlando Padrón left Cuba in 1961 and arrived in Miami with nothing. By 1964, he was rolling cigars in a small factory, building a brand that would become one of the most respected names in the industry.
Born in Pinar del Río, Cuba — the heartland of tobacco cultivation. Grew up surrounded by the craft that would define his life.
José Orlando established Padrón Cigars in Miami, Florida. The first cigars were rolled by hand in a small factory, sold locally to Cuban exiles who knew quality when they tasted it.
Production moved to Honduras and then Nicaragua, where the Padrón family began cultivating their own tobacco farms in Estelí and the Jalapa Valley. Full vertical integration began.
Released to celebrate thirty years in business, the 1964 Anniversary Series featured tobacco aged four or more years. It became an instant classic and remains one of the highest-rated cigar lines ever produced.
Named for José Orlando’s birth year, the 1926 Serie pushed the brand into ultra-premium territory. Every leaf is aged five or more years. It is widely considered one of the finest cigars money can buy.
Still family-owned. Still growing their own tobacco. Still box-pressed. The Padrón family has never chased trends — they set the standard and let everyone else catch up.
Padrón Lines
From the everyday excellence of the Thousand Series to the rarefied air of the Family Reserve, Padrón offers something at every level — and every level is exceptional. Each line is available in Natural (sun-grown wrapper) and Maduro (dark, rich, and slightly sweet).
The pinnacle of the Padrón portfolio. Every leaf is aged a minimum of five years. Rich, complex, and impossibly smooth. Full-bodied with layers of dark chocolate, espresso, and earth that unfold over an hour-plus smoke. Available in Natural and Maduro.
The cigar that put Padrón on the map for premium smokers. Four or more years of aging produce a smoke that is rich, balanced, and endlessly rewarding. Notes of cocoa, coffee, cedar, and leather in perfect harmony. A cigar you never get tired of.
Tobacco aged ten or more years, drawn from the family’s private reserves. Silky, refined, and profoundly complex. This is what happens when a family that has been growing tobacco for generations sets aside their finest leaf and waits a decade to roll it. When available, do not hesitate.
Where most cigar brands begin and end, Padrón’s entry-level line outperforms the premium offerings of lesser brands. Straightforward, satisfying, and remarkably consistent. Earthy, nutty, with a touch of sweetness. The cigar that built the company’s reputation one stick at a time.
Padrón’s answer for those who prefer a lighter, creamier profile without sacrificing complexity. A Connecticut-seed wrapper grown in Ecuador over Nicaraguan binder and filler. Smooth, approachable, with notes of cream, almonds, and white pepper. Excellent for newer smokers or a morning smoke.
“There are only a handful of cigar makers whose name alone guarantees quality. Padrón is at the top of that list.”— The Philosophy of Every Serious Humidor
