From Basketball Courts to Tobacco Fields
Litto Gomez was a basketball player from the Dominican Republic who fell in love with tobacco — and with Ines Lorenzo, whose family had been growing it for generations. In 1994, he married into the Ledesma tobacco dynasty and founded La Flor Dominicana, a brand that would change the cigar world's perception of Dominican tobacco forever.
While other makers chased Nicaraguan leaf, Gomez bet everything on his own soil. Today, LFD grows its own tobacco on over 3,000 acres in La Canela, controlling every step from seed to finished cigar. The result: blends with a character you simply can't get anywhere else.
